The Wisconsin National Guard’s 1157th Transportation Company is in Oshkosh. About 20 miles west as the crow flies, Berlin’s Guard armory closed in a September 2026 ceremony, and a detachment of the 1st Battalion, 120th Field Artillery is moving from there to Marshfield. If your service was drill weekends and annual training more than full-time duty, your claim works a little differently.
What decides a Guard or Reserve claim is your duty status on the day the problem started. Federal activations count like any active service. Annual training can cover an injury or an illness that began during it, while a drill weekend generally covers injuries only. That puts the weight on paperwork:
- Orders for each activation and annual training period you can track down, plus your DD 214 from any federal deployment
- Line of duty paperwork for anything that happened at drill or AT, even if it seemed minor then
- Sick call notes, unit medical records and periodic health assessments
- Your NGB Form 22 if you’ve left the Guard, and a points statement showing which days you were on duty
No line of duty report for an old injury? Statements from people who saw it happen can help fill that hole. On a review call we’ll sort what you already have from what’s worth chasing.
